Mrs. Rebecca "Becky" Lynn Dame

Rebecca Lynn Dame “Becky” was born to Earl and Lois “Darlene” Coleman on May 28th, 1973 in Tampa, Florida and went home to be with her Heavenly Father on June 23rd, 2026. She was loved by her parents and her six older siblings as well as many friends and family. Becky was predeceased by her loving mother, Darlene Coleman; her niece Lois Sampson, her nephew Justin Sampson, and her father-in-law George Dame. A talented musician growing up, she was a Drum Major for Plant City High School. Becky could play many instruments but received a scholarship to Florida Southern for her outstanding mastery of the Oboe. Becky loved her Lord and Savior Jesus and was passionate about allowing Jesus to use her to bring glory and honor to Him. Her life verse was Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.” Jesus used her greatly to lead and to love other people in many ways. A cancer patient from the age of 18, she fought over six different battles with Leukemia and one final battle with brain tumors. The grace and healing of God was carried out many times by the nurses and staff at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and later at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center’s BMT Unit. In 1993, in a Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Dover, Becky would meet her husband-to-be, Clint Thomas Dame. He was immediately taken in by her beauty and her strength of character. You could see and feel the love between Becky and Clint and on June 23rd,1995, they were married at FBC of Dover. Becky graduated from Nursing school and became an R.N. in 1995. After her first Bone Marrow Transplant in 1992, Becky wanted to give back some of what she had been given as a patient. She served many years at Moffitt on the BMT unit as a transplant nurse, a research nurse and as a transplant coordinator. She spoke up for patients and their families through teaching and advocacy and was highly valued in the Blood Cancer community as a speaker, moderator, counselor and congressional advocate. For the past 7 years, Becky has worked for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, now Blood Cancer United, as a Resource Specialist for people with all types of blood cancers. She spoke HOPE into people’s lives, through personal and professional experience and the true HOPE that only God could give through His Son. She was not bashful; she was bold but with a heart full of sincere care and love. She remembered people’s struggles and was a great encourager of the hurting. Some of the biggest smiles on Becky’s face were put there by her love for animals. She loved to watch other people’s dogs for them and to dress them up for little “photo shoots.” And she was not above bringing a bottle calf inside her house if she felt that one of her babies needed special attention! Of all that she did, she loved the Lord and her husband the best. Clint was the most blessed man in the world, and he knew the full selfless power of the love of Becky Dame. Her love and legacy are still here, but on her 31-year wedding anniversary, Clint walked Becky home for the last time, hand in hand, and gave her back to The Father. We have not “lost” Becky Dame, we know where she is and that she is in perfect health and wrapped in the love of Jesus. She is experiencing a wonderful reunion with the loved ones that have gone on before her. She would not want to come back, but she would want you to join her one day! Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many rooms: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:2-3 A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 2 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church Plant City, 3309 James L.
