May 17, 1945 - May 1, 2021
Carolyn R. Mason, 75, of Lithia, Florida, was born in Mountain City, Tennessee on May 17, 1945 and entered into eternal rest on May 1, 2021. She was a member of the Plant City Church of Christ, and her spot in heaven was assured long ago by her humble spirit and giving heart. She was a longtime Cast Member for Disney World, and retired with UPS as an inspector. She loved to go fast, and few things made her happier than a quick car ride or a screaming steel inverted roller coaster.. Carolyn also enjoyed skydiving, zip-lining, whitewater rafting, and horseback riding. If there was an adventure to be had, she was the first in line to go. Her adventurous spirit led her exploring other continents, cruising to Alaska for dog sledding (and zip lining, of course), parasailing, and trips in a hot air balloon, Her passing is the loss of a warrior princess, and she truly honored her Cherokee Indian heritage by living a deeply spiritual life and trusting to God for the rest. To meet Carolyn was to love her; without doubt she was loved by many, and will be deeply missed. Her family was forever foremost in her heart, and nothing was too good for her children and grandchildren. She was fierce in her love and protection of family, and to the very end of life she sacrificed herself for those she loved. She was preceded in death by husbands, James B. Thompson, and Lowell W. Mason. She is survived by children, Jean Thompson of Lithia, Don Thompson (Katie) of Lithia, and Dan Thompson (Ursula) of Canton, Georgia; step-children, Rick Mason (Pam) of Pittsville, Wisconsin, and Steve Mason (Sandy) of Monroe; grandchildren, Ryan (Jacqueline), Joshua, Cameron, Sabrina (Adam), Vanessa (Scott), Danielle, Sarah, and Nina; great-grandchildren, Madison, Hunter, Hudson, Ethan, Wyatt, and Ava; sister, Dorothy “Jean” Arnold of Plant City; nieces Debbie Hendrickson (Richard) and Joan Sheets (Ben); the German Shepherd she loved but to which she would never admit (Rocky); and many other family and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 8 at 3:00 P.M. at Hopewell Funeral Home, 6005 South County Road 39, Plant City. For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed at Facebook.com/HopewellFuneral. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics at support.specialolympics.org. Expressions of condolence at HopewellFuneral.com.
